Sunday 18th November will mark the 10th anniversary of the Adnams 10k run. A very big thank you to all runners, past and present, as well as every single one of the amazing supporters, race marshalls and volunteers who have made the run so special every year. It’s time we had a little look back and reflect on why Adnams decided to hold a 10k run in the first place.
Back in 2009, Adnams took part in the Prince’s Trust Million Makers Challenge. This initiative is a fundraising scheme which challenges teams of employees from companies across the UK to raise at least £10,000 over six months. Collectively, teams are aiming to raise a million pounds to transform the lives of disadvantaged young people around the country via The Prince’s Trust. Part of the 2009 challenge involved raising funds via a running event and the Adnams 10K was born! This year, by a wonderful circular coincidence, our payment service provider, World Pay, is also taking part in the Million Makers Challenge, so it's great to be able to support them in their endeavour by donating a portion of the race funds to The Prince’s Trust. The other charity to benefit this year is The Adnams Community Trust, which raises funds to support good causes within 25 miles of Southwold. You can find out more about the Adnams Community Trust here.
You can donate directly to The Million Maker's Challenge by following this link, and you can also support the Prince’s Trust while shopping in our stores or online throughout the months of November and December via Pennies, the Digital Charity box. If you’re running this year, good luck with your training, take good care, and see you at the starting line on 18th November! Oh, and by the way, if you've run or volunteered in all ten races, then we'd love to hear from you!
