Broadside Ice CreamAdnams Cellar & Kitchen Buyer Alexese Scott has been working with local company Hadley's Dairy over the last few months to develop a delicious range of brand new Adnams Ice Creams exclusively for our Southwold stores. Alexese explains, "Our new ice creams are made by Hadley’s Dairy, situated in the beautiful Colne Valley in Essex just a few miles from the Suffolk border. Jane Hadley set up her ice cream business in 2001 on their then dairy farm which has since closed - their milk now comes from Marybelle in Suffolk. Broadside Ice Cream 100ml tubHadley’s still remains a small business that prides itself on making the highest quality ices using the best ingredients, sourced locally where possible. Jane employs ladies from the local village to help with the manufacture of the ice cream, thus supporting her locality. Hadley's have won 24 'Great Taste' Awards over the last four years and is a company that places all its efforts on bringing innovation and new ideas to the ice cream sector." The flavours are Adnams Broadside, Vanilla (infused vanilla pods, Madagascan vanilla extract), Chocolate (Callebaut Belgian and Grenada chocolate), Mint choc chip (with Belgian chocolate flakes) & Strawberry (Cambridge Favourite variety from Norfolk with a touch of Aspall’s balsamic). Adnams ice cream freezer in the Southwold Cellar & Kitchen Store"Jane introduced the concept of using our Broadside in ice cream and Limoncello in sorbet at the Suffolk Show in 2011. She sent lots of samples, of these and her standard range, to Southwold for us to try and they got the big thumbs up from everyone that tried them. Since then, we have carried out numerous tastings with brewery tours, shop customers and members of staff, and the final products taste fabulous and look great. Hadley’s use local products where possible, concentrating on quality and eliminating additives to keep the ice cream as natural as possible. As Jane does not use artificial stabilisers, all products are made fresh and in small batches. The main ingredients are: Milk: From Marybelle, a family-run business located in the heart of Suffolk. All of their milk is sourced from local family farms with an emphasis on low-intensity and care for their animals. Eggs: Free range from a local producer Tubs: These were designed by 'Holy Cow' in Suffolk and printed in the UK using paper sourced under the sustainable forestry initiative. And in our exclusive ice cream, Adnams Broadside: Direct from our brewery in Southwold, of course!" The new ice creams will all be available in specially designed Adnams-branded 100ml tubs at £1.95, with some flavours in 500ml tubs (coming soon, priced at £5.95). The ice creams are only available in the two Adnams Stores in Southwold; the Cellar & Kitchen Store and the Wine Shop.
