Adnams Limoncello is now available!

Limoncello outside the Southwold Adnams Cellar & Kitchen It's back, and even better than before. Limoncello was the first liqueur made at Adnams Copper House Distillery in Southwold, and it sold out soon after its release.  Adnams Head Distiller John McCarthy has kept to the same successful recipe as last year, but used a much higher strength vodka in which to macerate the lemon zest. This means that more of the fresh, zippy citrus oils have been extracted from the zest, making this year's Limoncello even more lemony than the last. John explains, "Firstly, I distilled a batch of 3-grain vodka (wheat, barley and oats) in our Copper stills, and left it at a high strength at around 90% abv. At this concentration, the vodka releases all of the lemon aromas, colour and flavours from the zest. I left it to macerate for around 3 weeks before the zest was removed and the vodka was brought to strength (28% abv) by the addition of pure water and some sugar. The end result is a well-balanced liqueur - refreshing, lively and totally lemony." You can taste this year's Limoncello at Adnams Cellar & Kitchen Stores* and buy it online here (£19.49, 50cl, 28% abv) *Limoncello is currently on its way to our stores in Holt and Holkham, and will be available for our North Norfolk customers mid-morning tomorrow.
