Adnams Spring 2015 Beach Clean

By Benedict Orchard, also posted in News on

Washed up 8ft plank on beach, September 2014Saturday 21st March 2015 will see the first of our beach cleans this year and we would love you to come and join in! As a small thank you, volunteers will receive a free pint, or soft drink, at The Harbour Inn afterwards. We like to give our local patch of beach a bit of a spring clean in the run up to those long-awaited warm sunny days. The beach may have got a bit messy over the winter since our last clean. We have a great affinity with our local community, and we’re committed to caring for the environment in which we operate. Hundreds of species of marine wildlife will often accidentally eat or become entangled up in litter so we look to help them out a little by protecting them from the threat that our waste and litter poses to them. In addition, litter on our beaches is hazardous to people and costs millions to clear up. This is the 12th year we are carrying out beach cleans on our 1 km stretch of adopted beach, between Gunhill and the Harbour in Southwold. It is a really big help towards tackling beach litter and pollution and we would love you to come along and help us give back to the local community and wildlife, while being part of something much bigger. So please join us on Saturday 21st March 2015, meeting at 10am in The Crown Hotel in Southwold, where there will be a quick briefing and issuing of equipment before heading down to Gun Hill to begin our clean. If you would like to come along please send me an e-mail at to reserve your place. I will be sending out instructions for the day nearer to the time. Dogs and children are welcome to join in too.
