Adnams Whisky - it's here!

By Sarah Groves, also posted in News on

Distiller John McCarthy and Adnams Chairman Jonathan AdnamsA first for Suffolk, and a first for Adnams - our two new Southwold-made whiskies have been released. After three (and a bit!) years maturation in new French and American oak barrels, Adnams' first ever whiskies go on sale in Adnams Cellar & Kitchen Stores from Thursday 5th December. Just ten barrels of each of our whiskies - Single Malt No 1 and Triple Grain No 2 - were laid down shortly after the Copper House Distillery was opened in November 2010. Since its creation, Adnams Copper House Distillery has gained international recognition and awards for its handcrafted spirit range, including a coveted Gin Trophy at the International Wine & Spirits Competition early in 2013. Adnams Distiller, John McCarthy, describes the flavours of the two distinct whiskies: "Single Malt No 1 - 43% abv, matured exclusively in new French oak barrels and made from East Anglian barley, it's smooth and rich with notes of runny honey, vanilla and apricot. Adnams WhiskyTriple Grain No 2 - 43% abv, made from East Anglian barley, wheat and oats and matured in new American oak barrels, it's a bold, dark chocolate-scented whisky with notes of toasted oak, pepper and orange peel. We have tasted both spirits as they have matured in the oak barrels and have been extremely pleased with the flavours as they have developed." Extremely limited in quantity, we expect to sell out very quickly. You can find out more about Adnams Single Malt Whisky No 1 here and Adnams Triple Grain Whisky No 2 here. The whiskies are available online at £43.99 a bottle, and also at our Cellar & Kitchen Stores while stocks last.
