Adnams wins Vodka Producer of the Year at the IWSC 2018!

Following a second Trophy win for Adnams Longshore Vodka at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), as well as a silver outstanding medal for Adnams East Coast Vodka and silver for Rye Hill Vodka, Adnams is thrilled to have been awarded Vodka Producer of the year at the annual IWSC banquet and awards ceremony.

Adnams Chairman, Jonathan Adnams, Head Distiller, John McCarthy, Business Development Manager Lee Payne and Export Manager, Bradley Adnams attended the event at London’s Guildhall.

Earlier this year, the IWSC awarded Adnams’ Longshore Vodka the highest honour after already commending it with a Gold Outstanding Medal.

The judges commented “The incredible softness and elegance of this vodka places it above the rest. It exhibits an elegant, silky palate with just the right balance between the character of the base material and the smoothness and mouthfeel of the overall product.” All Adnams spirits are produced from grain to glass.

The Adnams brewing team first create an un-hopped beer in the brewery using the same high quality barley and other grains as Adnams beers, then the beer moves across to our distillery where it is distilled into the range of award-winning vodkas. From the vodkas, the distilling team then make gin by adding selected botanicals. Longshore Vodka becomes the base spirit for Adnams First Rate Gin. It’s the natural grain-to-glass journey from the fields of East Anglia, to making beer and then award-winning vodkas and gins.

Jonathan Adnams OBE, Chairman of Adnams and founder of the Copper House Distillery said, “We are, of course, delighted to receive the IWSC Vodka Producer of the Year Trophy 2018, having also picked up the IWSC World’s Best Vodka 2018. It is only eight years since Adnams expanded its brewing operations with the addition of the Copper House Distillery to become the UK‘s first combined brewer / distiller, producing craft vodka and gins from grain to glass. In this short time-frame, the Copper House Distillery has won the IWSC World’s Best Vodka Trophy on two occasions, and the IWSC World’s Best Gin Trophy once, and tonight the Vodka Producers Trophy helps further consolidate our reputation as a craft distiller.

Adnams vodka production uses three different malt mash bills in the brewhouse, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation with Adnams two-strain beer yeast, and distillation processes using Carl Gmb Copper Still technology. The Adnams methodology enable us to successfully bring the flavours from the different malt grists to our vodkas.“

Adnams Head Distiller, John McCarthy, comments, “With the news recently that craft vodka is to be the next big thing in the world of spirits, this award couldn’t have come at a better time. Producing a quality vodka from grain to glass is not easy, and it’s great to be recognised by the IWSC for all our hard work.”Adnams Vodkas:
