Fat Sprat's back!

By Sarah Groves, also posted in News on

Fat Sprat Amber BeerAdnams Fat Sprat, our 3.8% amber beer brewed in support of the Marine Conservation Society (MCS), became our most successful ever seasonal beer launch last year. Thanks to lots of you asking us to brew it again, it's now back for spring / summer 2014. Emma Hibbert, Adnams Head of Corporate Affairs explains: "Our long-standing partnership with the MCS helps to remind us that our beautiful coast is under threat and in need of protection. Adnams has committed to donate a proportion of the sales of Fat Sprat beer to the MCS for the second year to help promote the essential work of this charity." Katherine Sharp, Corporate Fundraiser at the MCS added: "With marine issues high on the agenda at the moment, the support of Adnams is essential in ensuring we can continue our vital conservation work, helping protect our beautiful seas and marine wildlife." Fat Sprat is brewed with Pale Ale malted barley, Munich, Cara and Black malt, with Columbus, English Goldings, Cascade and Chinook hops. It has a lovely citrus, grapefruit aroma with some spicy notes. On the palate, the citrus character of the hops shines through, balanced with a light biscuit flavour and a crisp, dry finish. It's available in cask in selected outlets until September 2014 and in 5L mini casks (that's around 8 pints) online and in store. Fat fact: Did you know that sprats are a MCS level 3 amber rated species? This means that sprats are not considered a sustainable species at this time. How else you can help: Why not join us on one of our Southwold beach cleans? You can read about the latest beach clean here.
