How you can help Dementia Adventure this summer...

dementia-adventure-logoFirstly, a very big thank you to everyone shopping at Adnams stores who kindly donated their spare change via Pennies, the Digital Charity Box between 1st May and 31st July 2017. Together, you’ve raised a brilliant £10,030.15 for the Tom Bowdidge Foundation. Additionally, the Adnams Race Weekend at Newmarket Racecourses in July raised a further £6,750 over two days, which will be shared between the Tom Bowdidge Foundation and the Adnams Community Trust. Our next charity supported by Pennies is Dementia Adventure. Dementia Adventure volunteer photoDementia Adventure is a multi-award winning charity co-founded by Neil Mapes and Lucy Harding in 2009, using the combination of Neil’s expertise in dementia care and support and Lucy’s expertise in the adventure travel industry. Dementia Adventure has a simple mission: to enable people living with dementia to get outdoors, connect with nature, themselves and their community, and retain a sense of adventure in their lives. Dementia Adventure is based in Essex but works nationally and has an international following. Exercise, fresh air and stimulation can help people retain skills and interests for longer, improve health and well-being and positively impact the lives of people living with dementia and their carers and families. Yet many people living with dementia can face barriers to accessing these benefits. Dementia Adventure provides a range of services aiming to remove barriers and increase opportunities – all with nature in mind. You can find out more about Dementia Adventure and the inspirational work they do on their website. When you pay by card at our tills or online, please donate your extra pennies as every single one really makes a difference – thank you!
