Insect import

By Sarah Groves, also posted in News on

Mantis in ReydonThe team at Adnams eco-distribution centre in Reydon is used to receiving imports of wine from all over the world, but less common is the discovery of a two-inch long illegal immigrant - a mottled brown, leaf-like Unicorn mantis. The little chap had arrived along with a lorry-load of Argentinian wine, and judging by his feisty attempts to scale the beer glass in which he was captured, was unaffected by his long journey. Alison Kibble, Adnams' very own eco-warrior, sent out a plea of help to the staff at Adnams, and the mantis was taken by Sarah Tilbrook to a lecturer at Otley College of Agriculture and Horticulture, near Ipswich. The mantis is currently on his way to his new home at the College's Exotic Unit to begin the next stage of his adventure.
