Refill, Enjoy, Repeat

Join the refill revolution.

Our new In-store refill stations offer you the opportunity to purchase a range of Adnams products in a refillable container. We are reducing your waste, not your choice, so this sustainable way of shopping is available on a selection of beers, wines, and spirits. Simply visit participating Adnams stores with your empty Copper House Gin bottle or purchase our special refillable bottles for beer or wine and become part of the refill revolution.

Adnams Refill Stores

Refill stations can currently be found in four Adnams stores:

  • Southwold: Victoria Street, IP18 6GB

  • Norwich (Unthank Road): 109 Unthank Road, NR2 2PE

  • Bury St Edmunds: 43B Cornhill, IP33 1DX

The Refill Process:

  1. When you have your refillable bottle, our team will take you through our selection and will fill your bottle, for you to enjoy at home.

  1. Bring back your clean empties.

  1. Refill, enjoy, repeat!

Our Refill Products:

We are launching the scheme with Copper House Gin, Ghost Ship pale ale, Kobold English lager and a new Argentinian Malbec and Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, both of which will only be available via the refill scheme in our stores.

Our first refillable spirit will be Copper House Gin. Our best-selling, award-winning gin, has an avid following and we are excited to be able to offer refills.

Copper House Gin

Our trophy-winning gin is handcrafted from grain to glass using our small batch copper pot still using the finest East Anglian malted barley and six carefully selected botanicals. This aromatic gin is fruity, floral, with classic notes of juniper, cardamom and coriander alongside zesty sweet orange and hints of flowery hibiscus. Serve with tonic and the zest of an orange.

Suitable for vegans.

40% abv, 1 UK unit per 25ml; 28 UK units per 700ml.

We are launching with two classic beer styles, a pale ale, and a lager. Ghost Ship and Kobold are refreshing, versatile and great on any occasion.

Ghost Ship 4.5%

Ghost Ship is brewed with Pale Ale, Rye Crystal and Cara Malts which add depth and those moreish biscuity aromas we all love. A blend of Citra and other American hop varieties provide Ghost Ship's bold citrus flavours of lemon and lime, aromatic elderflower notes, and that famous hoppy finish.

Suitable for vegans.

4.5% abv, 2.3 UK units per 500ml.

Contains: Barley & Rye (gluten).

Kobold English Lager

This crisp lager is created with all English ingredients and uses East Anglian extra pale malted barley and wheat, with Goldings hops from Hertfordshire and Kent. Kobold Lager is clean and classic in style, with a light, bready, honeyed aroma alongside subtle grassy and lemon notes.

Suitable for vegans.

4.7% abv, 2.4 UK units per 500ml.

Contains: Barley & Wheat (gluten).

Argentine Malbec and Marlborough Sauvignon continue to feature as some of the nation’s favourite wines, so we have selected two premium examples of these approachable styles.

Zuccardi Malbec

Produced by the family owned Zuccardi winery nestled at the foot of the Andes in the beautiful Uco Valley. The Zuccardi approach is to preserve the diversity and ecosystems of the Uco Valley, with production focussed on minimal intervention, sustainability, and respect for environment and supporting community. Their Malbec typifies this beautiful region and is full of elegant plum, blackberry, and white pepper notes, with a long and fruity finish. A perfect pairing for barbecued fayre.

Suitable for vegans.

14% vol, 7 UK units per 500ml; 14 UK Units per 1L.

Contains: Sulphites.

Taringi Sauvignon Blanc

Our Taringi Sauvignon Blanc hails from the ever-popular Marlborough region of New Zealand. This wine is typical of the classic Marlborough style – full of gooseberries, cut grass and tropical fruits, with a lively, well balanced acidity. The name Taringi is derived from the Maori word for the little birds that loiter in the vineyards at harvest time. A great wine which may be enjoyed on its own, or with your favourite fish dishes.

12.5% vol, 6.25 UK units per 500ml; 12.5 UK units per 1L.

Contains: Sulphites & Milk.

Serving our customers & helping the environment

The Copper House Gin will be coming directly from our distillery in Southwold. Similarly, Ghost Ship and Kobold will arrive regularly from our brewery. We will be using KeyKeg beer on the station to refill our special 2L growlers.

We will also be using KeyKegs to dispense our two wines. The wine is only in contact with the specially designed laminated inner bag. It is never exposed to the propellant gas, so it retains its flavour and quality for much longer. Specialised wine research centres such as the renowned Geisenheim Institute have tested and proved the superiority of KeyKegs against other forms of packaging.

KeyKegs are made from 100% recycled plastic, they are highly recyclable themselves and their compact design means they can be transported more efficiently than glass, cutting Co2 emissions, and reducing secondary waste such as cardboard.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I need to wash my bottle and cap before refilling?

Yes please. Customers are responsible for washing their own bottles and caps. We will assist with information on this process in store, so please ask.

Can I bring any bottle or container and use the refill station?

No, sorry. We can only allow you to use Adnams bottles, so that we can fulfil our obligations to trading standards and guarantee the correct weights and measures. We will accept Copper House Gin bottles, but you will need to purchase an empty vessel in our store for beer or wine. It is then yours to use with the scheme going forward.

Does this process comply with the required health and hygiene regulations?

We have consulted with all relevant authorities, including our local Environmental Health Officers, and are complying with the required regulations and following government guidance.

Will I be able to serve myself?

No, sorry. Our refill stations will be manned by members of the Adnams store team, and they will refill your bottle for you.

Is there a loyalty scheme?

We will be running an introductory loyalty scheme for the first 100 customers to each store. You will receive your 10th purchase of beer, wine, or Copper House Gin free of charge. This offer only applies to 10 purchases from the same product category, and not from across a mix of products.
