Meet Ben, Adnams' Environmental Sustainability Manager

By Sarah Groves, also posted in News on

Benedict Orchard, Adnams Environmental Sustainability ManagerAdnams has long been a values-driven company, and we're always keen to ensure that our impact on society, business and the environment is a positive one. That's why we've recently welcomed 23-year-old Benedict Orchard to the team as Environmental Sustainability Manager. Although every member of the Adnams team is tasked with keeping us 'green' in their day-to-day role, Ben's job is focused on data monitoring and taking an overall view on our environmental impact and operational efficiency, helping us all to improve further. Ben explains a little more about his interests and background: "I graduated from the University of East Anglia in the summer of 2012 with a first class degree in Environmental Sciences. I was born in Ipswich, but now live in Norwich, so I'm East Anglian born and bred! Before joining Adnams I worked with Anglian Water in both their 'Climate Change and Environmental Performance' and 'Innovation' teams. I'm really interested in energy efficiency and low carbon technologies, which is something that Adnams is already championing. I'll be working on monitoring Adnams carbon emissions, energy and water usage, and waste management. With solid data to work from I can begin to identify trends and start a programme of improvements that will benefit not only the environment, but the Adnams business, too. "My plan is to regularly update the Adnams blog, so please feel free to email me with any environmental questions or issues you may have. I'll try and address them either directly, or as part of my future blog articles, but if I can't answer your question I'll do my best to point you in the right direction!" Adnams Beach CleanYou can meet Ben if you join the Adnams team on our next Southwold Beach Clean on World Oceans' Day - Saturday 8th June, and you can watch a short video featuring Ben and the University of East Anglia Environmental Sciences course here.
