Shane and Heather from Sixpoint Brewery adding the hops to 'Make it Rain'It was really good to see our friends from Sixpoint brewery (based in New York) again. This time it was a winter trip, so the previous paddling in the North Sea, and eating Adnams Broadside ice-cream on a sunny August day was replaced by a pint in a cosy Southwold pub sheltering from the rain. Shane and Heather from Sixpoint joined us to brew another interesting collaboration beer exclusively for JD Wetherspoon outlets - yet another opportunity to put our brewhouse into action and fill those hop vessels full to the brim. Sixpoint Brewery and Adnams Make It Rain Pump ClipWe were slightly concerned with the name at first as ‘Make It Rain’ is not what we wanted it to do outside. At the time of brewing the beer, the UK was being hit with torrential rain and flooding. Indeed, it did pour down here in Southwold on the day of racking, but since then it has been feeling very much like spring. 'Make It Rain' is brewed with Munich, Carahell, Carafoam and Pale ale malt to produce a medium-bodied light brown beer.  A wonderful array of Simcoe, Citra and Amarillo hops added at all stages through to dry-hopping give an assertive bitterness and a fruity, citrus, orange aroma and flavour. It's an easy-drinking, flavoursome, aromatic beer, and I will be sure to check this one out in my local Wetherspoon. Don’t be fooled by the name, Sixpoint and this beer bring nothing but sunshine! It was great to brew with Sixpoint again, I am a huge fan of their beers. You can find out more about Sixpoint here and find your nearest Wetherspoon pub here.
