New! The Adnams Selection Chianti

By Alastair Marshall, also posted in News on

The Adnams Selection ChiantiSet on a hillside within sight of the medieval hill town of San Gimignano is a cluster of farm buildings that Umberto Fenzi and his wife Frederica have developed over the years as an 'agritourismo' - a classic Italian mix of wine, olives, restaurant and holiday accommodation. It is from this estate that we have selected our new Chianti. Previously a computer programmer for a big company and his wife a lawyer, the arrival of numerous children forced a decision to change their lifestyle. So they both gave up their respective careers and took over total running of the farm from Umberto's father. Vines were first planted here in 1977 and since 2008 the vines have been managed under organic cultivation. The family are very excited that their wines, except the Riserva but including our Chianti, officially qualify as vegan-friendly. Our Adnams Selection Chianti is made predominantly from Sangiovese grapes with a small portion of both Syrah and Ciliegiolo that add extra complexity to the blend. This is full of the ripe flavours of autumnal fruits and a classic Italian food-friendly bite on the finish. Pair with spicy Tuscan sausages or rich tomato-based pasta or gnocci dishes.
