Newmarket Race Day Charity Auction and Raffle

By Sarah Groves, also posted in News on

Adnams Newmarket Race Weekend 2014A huge thank you to everyone who kindly donated prizes and to those attending the annual Adnams Race Weekend at Newmarket on the 25th and 26th July. Over two days, we raised a brilliant £5,705 for our chosen charities for 2014: Kidney Research UK and The Adnams Charity. One of the auction lots was the opportunity for two people to meet members of UB40 who were headlining that evening at Adnams Newmarket Nights. Congratulations to Gary Burlison, from Burlison Inns, and his daughter Hannah, who were the winning bidders. The charity was chosen in support of one of Adnams' longest-standing business partners, Brian Davies, Managing Director of London City Bond (LCB). Brian was taken ill and had to have a kidney transplant six years ago. His living donor was his wife, Christine. Brian and Christine, together with other members of his family, took part in the Kidney Research UK seven-mile walk earlier in July and raised approximately £4,000 for the charity. Adnams has worked with Brian and his team for two decades so it's fitting that we can help support a charity that means so much to him, his family, and colleagues at LCB. The weekend was not only hugely enjoyable for everyone attending but also helped us raise much-needed funds for good causes. Here's to next year!
