If you’re already a subscriber, here is the introduction for June’s Seasonal Cellar Club cases, courtesy of Senior Wine Buyer Alastair Marshall. Underneath you can download his tasting notes for the red and white wines included in the three different price brackets available. Alastair with a glass of Arak from Massaya "A few weeks ago we sent out our latest wine list and this, June’s offering of the Seasonal Cellar, contains many of the new wines contained therein. We are particularly proud of some of the lighter reds that we found this year like the Gamay from the Loire, the Frappato from Sicily or the Pinot Noir from Tasmania. These are wines that are nominally lighter in body but all display the force of character that we are looking for. All are perfect for summer drinking. The big winner in the 2013 vintage race was undoubtedly Spain. Sufficient rainfall and a good but not overly hot summer produced a bumper crop of good quality grapes. The bounty of 2013 affects all other available vintages and has had the effect of keeping prices at a sensible level while quality levels continue to rise. This blissful state of affairs is a wine buyers dream and we find ourselves having to exercise restraint from filling your box with a large proportion of Spanish wines. Balance is what we aim for and although you will find the flavours of Spain they sit along-side other classic wines of Europe and the New World. As ever, your comments are much appreciated and if you feel particularly passionate about any of this month’s wines or maybe even the lack of something, please do let us know."         £89 Seasonal Cellar Tasting Notes (PDF, 1.5MB) £135 Seasonal Cellar Tasting Notes (PDF, 1.5MB) £180 Seasonal Cellar Tasting Notes (PDF, 1.6MB)
