A deep amber beer brewed with pale ale and black malt and hopped with Galaxy, Nelson Sauvign, Moteuka and Wakatu. Oats provide smoothness and body and a small amount of spruce tips provide a resinous pine note

What’s the Story

Nicholson's Pubs challenged our Brewer Fergus Fitzgerald, together with brewers from Purity and S.A. Brains, to take part in "Whose Beer is it anyway?" whereby they each had to create a new beer by selecting lots to dictate the abv, hops and beer style. Fergus selected the abv of 3.4 to 3.8%, Australian/New Zealand hops and a red/amber beer. Fergus describes how he decided on his final recipe here.

Southern Lights is exclusively available at Nicholson's pubs as part of their Autumn beer festival from 31st October to 16th November 2014. All three improvised beers will be available as individual pints or in a tasting stick of 1/3 pint glasses.
