The Adnams Wine Festival - Finest Reserve Port

For the third week in our Adnams Wine Festival, we are taking you back to the “Old World”. The Iberian countries of Spain and Portugal are famous for traditional styles of wine. Of course, renowned for Port, Portugal also produces several excellent examples from over 200 regional varieties. Bordering Spain has a vast 2.5 million acres of vineyards, with varying climates and, consequently, wine styles.

Not just reserved for Christmas, is our Finest Reserve Port. This is wonderfully elegant and warming; full of warm wild red and dark fruit flavours with hints of figs and balsamic.

Finest Reserve Port is the most premium ruby port categorisation and ours is a precise, expert blend of indigenous Portugese varieties; Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Barroca – each of which imparts a unique flavour contribution on the blend.

Produced for us by long-term partners and friends of Adnams, Quinta do Crasto. The family-run winery has history dating back to 1615 at their site on one of the most spectacularly situated properties in the Douro region.

Their predominantly south-facing slopes extend from the banks of the Douro River up to an altitude of 600m. Known across the world for their Port and red wines, Quinta do Crasto have an ongoing commitment to preserving the biodiversity of the region, whilst marrying tradition (including still using conventional foot-treading techniques) with state-of-the art technologies.

This port is vibrant ruby in colour, with lifted and well-balanced complex aromas. Of course, this is the perfect partner to a richly favoured cheese board, but why not try with rich chocolate desserts?
