The secret’s stout!

Adnams Blackshore StoutWe're soon to release a new beer - Blackshore Stout is a dark, smooth stout, brewed with pale ale, brown and roasted barley. Our new stout will be unveiled during London Beer Week at Craft Beer Rising, which is taking place between 19 and 22 February at The Old Truman Brewery on London’s Brick Lane. At this year’s show Adnams will be offering visitors the opportunity to taste the new Blackshore Stout for free. The event, which has been running since 2013, will this year showcase more than 130 different breweries and brands. Made using a selection of British hops (predominantly Phoenix), Head Brewer Fergus Fitzgerald has created this black stout as a canny alternative to other well-known Irish stouts. Blackshore has a 4.2% ABV and is brimming with flavours of chocolate and coffee, as well as hints of liquorice and dark fruits, making it a perfect accompaniment to food such as crab, oysters or dark chocolate desserts. Its name comes from the road along Southwold Harbour which is famous for its black tarred fishing huts – an image which also features on the stout’s pump clip. Commenting on the new beer, Fergus Fitzgerald said, “For a long time in Ireland drinking a good beer meant drinking stout, it was the high tide mark of brewing and although there are now some great beers in Ireland I still think of stout as being an essential part of any beer range. Our interpretation has all the elements of a good dry stout with chocolate and coffee flavours with a hint of raisin and liquorice, but most importantly you can ask the barman to draw a shamrock in the head, although given its origins it may end up being a beach hut. Craft Beer Rising is a fantastic event and one which reflects, and really celebrates, the growing beer revolution we have seen in the UK over the last few years. The event is a great opportunity to showcase the new stout and we’re looking forward to hearing the reaction from customers – both old and new!” Blackshore Stout is available in keg in selected outlets from 19th February 2015.
