The Tour of Britain cycling weekend in September

By Victoria Savory, also posted in News on

Tour of BritainWith all the publicity British cycling has been receiving recently, we’re delighted to continue our sponsorship of the Tour of Britain again this year. An exciting weekend of cycling is planned in East Anglia for 8th and 9th September. The East Anglia stage route map can be viewed here. There are two days of cycling - one for the general public, and the other for the pros! 8th September - Tour Ride The Tour Ride is an opportunity for the general public to cycle the route that the professionals will cycle the following day. You can either cycle 92km of the route (Gt Yarmouth – Norwich), or the full 200km of the route. It's particularly exciting for us, as the ride passes through Southwold. Look out for our Adnams riders - they will be wearing Adnams shirts, so should be relatively easy to spot (particularly some of the less speedy ones!). 9th September – Tour of Britain Race The following day some of the world’s top cyclists will be racing a similar route, although it doesn't pass through Southwold. This will be the first leg of the Tour of Britain race – what’s known as the ‘Grand Depart’. We may even have the King of Side Burns himself, Bradley Wiggins, taking part. Why not come along and support the cyclists - it promises to be a great spectacle!
