The Victoria Hotel's Spring Menu

The Victoria Hotel, situated on the coast road at Holkham in North Norfolk, is in an enviable position. The Hotel overlooks grazing marshes and the pine-covered dunes of Holkham Gap to the north, and stands as a proud gateway to the glorious Holkham Estate. Produce from the 25,000-acre Estate has always featured prominently on the Hotel's menu, but perhaps none more so than today. Head Chef Saurav Kumar describes his menu as 'simple, classic British / French cuisine'. Customers will find well-known coastal dishes such as Fish Pie and Crab cakes (locally-caught) and venison from Holkham Estate - dishes you would naturally expect to find in North Norfolk. Saurav has created a range of dishes to share, too, providing a more intimate and sociable dining experience. "There's no need to source major ingredients from more than about 5 miles away. We have fish brought to our door. The menu has been conceived to create a range of homely, satisfying dishes with a coastal emphasis. I aim for simplicity so that we can offer great quality and consistency - I want each dish to be perfect everyday and easily understandable, and I want to 'wow' customers when the dishes are brought out from the kitchen. There's so much great produce from Holkham Estate, as well as from local suppliers - we're very lucky here at The Victoria." Visitors can look forward to some enjoyable wine dinners soon, too. Adnams' Cellar & Kitchen Store is just a few meters from The Victoria, so Holkham's resident wine expert, Dan Probert, will join Saurav to host a series of entertaining food and wine matching evenings.
