#transformationtuesday revisiting The Swan revamp

By Jazelle, also posted in News on

In 2017, The Swan Hotel closed for several months to undergo an exciting transformation. Today, it is our pride and joy as well as being our flagship hotel. It's an Instagrammers dream and brought in lots of lovely tourists into Southwold. In the spirit of #transformationtuesday, we take a look back over how far we've come, more than a year after the start of construction.

              The Swan Hotel pre-transformation.

We worked with Project Orange to revamp the hotel

Our new haven on the coast; the recently renovated Swan Hotel.

What's changed?

The Swan building dates back to the late 1600s and many of the original features and much of the main structure of the hotel still remains. We worked with award-winning design studio Project Orange on the new design, which celebrates our Suffolk location and history of brewing and distilling, with a fresh design aesthetic. The warm, friendly atmosphere is enhanced with subtle design references to Adnams’ heritage, such as copper fittings reflecting the distillery, and Adnams’ oldest trademark, Southwold Jack’ on hand-painted tiles in the bar.

All of our bedrooms now have a contemporary coastal feel with hand-made furniture and beautiful lighting. Each room features our specially-made ‘Adnams tallboys’, which house all sorts of lovely things, including a Nespresso machine, a 40” smart TV (with Apple TV in our ‘Outstanding’ rooms), a wireless speaker and an Adnams mini bar jam-packed with your favourite Adnams goodies.

There are two dining areas: the Tap Room, which seats 50, showcases a broad range of Adnams beers and an informal menu. There is also the Still Room, which seats 54, is the signature restaurant at The Swan.  There are also two private dining rooms, a cosy lounge for afternoon tea and coffees and a wine room, which is available for tastings and events.
