Try something different this Christmas...

Adnams Pinot NoirThere's never enough Pinot Noir... We already have our traditional Bourgogne Rouge from Burgundy, our simple and fruity Pinot Noir from Chile and a grown-up Central Otago example from our friend John Forrest in New Zealand. There's always room for a fourth Pinot Noir, right? Our newest Pinot Noir fits somewhere in the middle price-wise and it’s currently my default go-to weekend wine. We sourced it from a little winery on the south coast of France, near Bezieres, made by Vincent Pugibet at Domaine la Colombette. Incidentally, Vincent already makes our Adnams French Red, White & Rosé, I thought we needed a another wine from them as well… most of their vineyards are certified organic, his father was a pioneer in the region and I absolutely adore their wines, too. We visited Vincent in January 2017 and tasted through a few different blends of Pinot Noir from various plots and levels of oak ageing. Vincent prefers the warmth and tastiness you get with a little oak and I preferred a slightly fresher style so we agree that somewhere down the middle would please most. It also sits better in amongst the other Pinots we already had in our range - all very diplomatic. The wine arrived in the UK at the end of September perfectly in time for serving this winter. It’s not by any stretch a ‘big’ wine, it's juicy and fleshy with a silky freshness to it. I will always pick up a Pinot to go with my Christmas day dinner, if if you don’t want splash out, this one is fantastic value, too. You can buy Adnams Pinot Noir, IGP Pays d'Herault in our stores and online at £8.99 per bottle.
