In so many ways we owe so much to those who gave so much for us - the celebrations for VE Day were a timely reminder of this and although the celebrations we had planned had to be postponed, The Union Jack was again hoisted proudly above our flagship hotel The Swan in Southwold by Nick Attfield our Director of Properties and the bell was rung at 3pm to toast ‘those who gave everything, we thank them' – many of our pubs did this too even though they are currently closed.
We have had some new product releases recently including the return of our limited edition, seasonal Orange and Sea Buckthorn gin which was a result of great customer feedback given in our shops and online that we should bring it back! This year’s release of Wild Hop Amber Beer is also now available and has a great story to it. Fergus explains, “it’s a beer we first started making in 2014, the idea is simple - we ask people to pick hops growing in their gardens or in their fields, or wherever they have permission to pick them and we add them all together. For this beer we simply take your hops, and let the season shine through. We let go of that, ultimately foolish, belief that we can control everything, concentrate on the bits we can and embrace the unknown. Once the beer is packaged, we have always held a party for our hop pickers to come together and taste what they have helped us brew. We can’t do that right now, so we have sent out a case to our hop pickers to enjoy”.
I was keen to keep you updated on our delivery time frame for our online store. We have been working day and night with our delivery partners to get back to our 3-5 working day delivery promise which will get our beers, wines and spirits to you to enjoy as quickly as possible.
We are currently on the lookout for nominations for your community hero. We want to reward those people who are going above and beyond to help others in their local community by gifting three heroes with stays at our Adnams Hotels; The Swan, Southwold, The White Horse, Blakeney and The Cross Keys, Aldeburgh once they reopen later in the year, plus twenty further nominees with their favourite Adnams drink to say thank you. So if you know of anyone who is making a difference within your community please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with why they should be nominated in less than 100 words.
We know that a little something makes a big difference to people who don’t expect it and we have now delivered more than 5,000 Adnams packages to people who are doing their best to help us all and continuing to do so.
We are incredibly grateful to you for ongoing support – if you are not already doing so please follow us on our social channels on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Our team have been creating some delicious cocktail recipes for you to enjoy at home which can be found on our YouTube channel.
