What is 'Green Manufacturing'?

Adnams anaerobic digestion system illustrationBeing ‘green’ has these days become synonymous with many other terms; ‘environmentally friendly’, ‘responsible’, ‘sustainable’, ‘preventative’ just to name a few. It can be applied in many contexts to many parts of a business, so when I was recently asked “what does ‘Green Manufacturing’ mean to Adnams?” I had to think about what that actually meant. Manufacturing in a ‘green’ way, or to be more specific in a way which reduces pollution and waste by minimizing natural resource use, recycles and reuses what was considered waste, and reduces emissions to air, land and water, is very important to Adnams. But not because it is seen as ‘green’. It's important because it’s how we operate our business successfully and have done for some time. The business benefits behind it are extensive and we have been able to identify those beyond what many others would consider. To find out more about what we think of ‘green manufacturing’ you can read my blog for The Crowd here.
