Whisky winners!

By Sarah Groves, also posted in News on

The results of the annual World Whiskies Awards have been announced, and we're delighted that all three of our Southwold-made whiskies are winners. Adnams spirits are made from grain to glass - which means that we make all of our spirits from the same grains of barley, wheat and rye that we use to make our beers. We brew an un-hopped beer as the base for our vodkas, gins and whiskies in our brewery. We then distil this beer in our small batch copper pot stills in our Copper House Distillery which is situated right next to our Southwold brewery.

The winners:

Adnams Triple Malt:
Wheat Category Winner, Best British Wheat and Best Brand Design award
Made with three malted grains - wheat, barley and oats - and aged in new American oak casks for five years.

Adnams Single Malt Whisky:
Single Malt Category Silver award
Aged for five years in new French oak barrels, this smooth, rich whisky has bold flavours of runny honey, vanilla and apricots.

Adnams Rye Malt Whisky:
Rye Category Winner and Best British Rye
Made with rye grown at Jonathan Adnams' farm just one mile from our distillery, Adnams Rye Whisky has lovely aromas of warm vanilla, raisin fudge and black peppercorns with a smooth, rich and spicy palate. We're also really proud to have won the Best Brand Design Award - a big thanks to our design partners, CookChick!

Adnams' Master Distiller, John McCarthy, comments: "We are really pleased that all three of our whiskies have won within their respective classes in these prestigious awards. We have always been proud of our use of locally-grown malts and winning these latest accolades has given us further validation in our production methods and cask selections. Sláinte!"
