Perfect for a summer barbecue. Also goes well with spicy food, pizza, and summer salads.
Ghost Ship 0.5% makes it easier to stop drinking. I stopped drinking during a yoga holiday and wondered if I was ever going to enjoy a real ale again without the alcohol. I went through the ranges available at the local shops and quickly zeroed in on Adnams Ghost Ship 0.5%. One thing I've never ever seen in reviews is EVERY REVIEW HAS 5 STARS I don't need to add any more acclaims, it's all ready been said. Thank you Adnams. Another brilliant clear headed evening drinking Ghost and practicing the piano.
As a beer aficionado who has had to (temporarily) give up alcohol recently, I felt really downhearted as I began to search for alternatives. But what a joy it was to discover this! It is totally delicious; hoppy and refreshing! When I'm drinking this beer I don't miss the alcohol at all, in fact I think I prefer it. This will definitely be a regular feature in my fridge even after I get back in the saddle. It'll be perfect for a summer evening, satisfying and thirst-quenching but leaving one clear headed. Perfect!
Great in 500 cl bottles. Looking forward to it in 440ml cans (or 500).
just opened my first ever GSAF. Trying to cut down intake of Alcohol and have a few evenings a week without. This is brilliant. All the taste and flavour without the worry of overdoing it. I agree with all other reviews, the best AF beer by a mile. Well done Adnams.
I was bought a couple of Ghost Ship 0.5% for Christmas and have to say it is the absolute best low alcohol beer I have ever tasted! Over the years I have tried to find a low alcohol beer that actually tastes like beer - whether lager or beer, all of which have tasted nothing like beer. Ghost Ship is stunning and I am really excited at enjoying this beer as my go-to drink. Well done Adnams - fantastic!!!
Having started 2019 with a dry January, I’ve been trying various low alcohol beers in an effort to find one thst’s palatable. Most of the beers I’ve tried were too “malty,” and left an unpleasant aftertaste. They weren’t all bad. My two favourites were, in order of preference, Brewdog Nanny Sate, and Pistonhead Flat Tyre. Both of these were a reasonable substitute for the real thing. Then I discovered Ghost Ship, and with a single sip I knew I’d found the Holy Grail of low alcohol beer. Although it doesn’t have the kick of its high alcohol namesake, it is a worthy substitute. There is no hint of malt, or nasty aftertaste. It actually tastes very pleasant, and I’d be hard-pushed to recognise its low-alcohol status in a blind taste test. If, like me, you’re looking for a low alcohol beer that actually tastes like beer, look no further than Ghost Ship, my new beer of choice (at least until 31 January). Recommended!
Having tried many LA / AF offerings over the last 15 months, I had resigned myself to LA lagers. I honestly could not tell the difference between the 0.5% and 4.5% Ghost Ship bottles. As this was always a favourite beer of mine, the discovery of the 0.5% version in my local supermarket and a few local pubs has really made my day. I cannot overstate the fact that this has none of the sweet or malty overtones of other LA/AF beers. Absolutely spot-on. You've made me a very happy man!
I ordered 20 bottles from Adnams and the Tesco’s. Best AF beer ever tasted You can join in the fun and not lose your licence with this one! Highly recommended
I am not a fan of Lagers, generally and so ice cold zero alcohol ones leaving wishing I had chosen a bottle of San Pelligrono. As other reviewers have said, this is a game changer. I drink it at about 14degC and so all the aromas and flavour are full-on. I would say that it is not only a substitute, it is a genuinely good bottled beer in its own right.
Just discovered this last night in Wetherspoons. This is, quite simply, amazing - it tastes fantastic, like real beer, and has a rich colour and real depth to the taste that other alcohol free beers just don't have. This is finally the real deal: a tremendously enjoyable AF beer that is a genuine treat to drink rather than a pale alternative to the real thing. A game changer. Plus the bottle design is beaut.
Agree with the previous reviews, it’s a proper winner. Been a long time waiting for a quality low/free alcohol real ale and it’s the best by far. Bought a case online and one of Sole Star low alcohol and had two very enjoyable Christmas beer sessions so far and was able to volunteer for designated driver (that’s a rarity!) A Game changer, wish I’d found such a brew years back. Great that JDW are punching it out in a big way too. Cheers
I bought several different types of lo/no alco beers to try before ordering for Xmas and found Ghost Ship to be head and shoulders above the rest for taste and apparent body.
Like your other reviewers I could not believe how good this is. I did not think that there would ever be an AF beer that was really enjoyable rather than simply worthy. Thank you.
I first tried this beer in a Wetherspoon Pub and found it to be excellent. I have since had it on a number of other occasions when I have been at Wetherspoons. Great taste and flavour, brilliant when you have to drive. At last a real step up from the dreadful AF Becks!
Simply Unbelievable...Had two bottles of this at Hamilton Hall (Wetherspoons) at Liverpool Street Station as I was driving later. Incredible. I have never tasted an AF beer that comes close to drinking ale like this!! Made the afternoon much more pleasurable knowing I could join in the drinking session with my friends without struggling on other AF beers I have tried in the past. 10/10 from me!!!
Discovered Ghost Ship Alcohol Free when I called into an Addams shop while on holiday in Norfolk Love the taste not sure if I would be able to tell the difference in a blind taste test. Yesterday I found it in my local Tesco at £1.30 a bottle, At last I can drink at home and if I get called out in the night to my elderly father in law, have no worries about being over the limit. WELL DONE ADNAMS
I first came across GSAF at the Royal Norfolk Show this summer on the Adnams Brewery bar. I was able to taste it side by side on 'draught' (Keg?) with the 4.5% version and honestly had difficulty in telling the difference. I was one of the first 1000 CAMRA members back in the early 1970s and am still a member, so have drunk a lot of beer since then. This is by far the best AF beer I have ever tasted. Sadly I have been unable to find it in any local pub (or supermarket/Off Licence) so have had to order direct from Adnams. A great contribution to reducing alcohol intake and also being able to have a pint without affecting ability to drive. Give it a try.
This really is impressive; a pale ale which tastes and smells good. I really hope that it becomes as ubiquitous in pubs and bars as that nasty fizzy yellow stuff with the blue label. It’s long overdue that people wanting to stop or reduce their intake should get a decent and palatable alternative.
First time and now hooked...Like so many others I’m cutting down on alcohol after the dire public health warnings and the Adrian Chiles programme. Was in a Spoons the other night and this was the only alcohol free beer they had (I read later that its arch Brexiteer owner is stopping selling Erdinger and replacing it with GSAF). Well, you honestly wouldn’t know you’re not drinking actual full strength beer. IT IS AMAZING. Can’t buy it in my local supermarket yet - although you can buy regular Ghost Ship so maybe this one is not far behind. Going to order some online direct from Adnams instead.
Such a wonderful addition to the Addams range. No worries about drinking and driving you can have a pint after work or in the local and still safely drive home. I love original Ghost Ship but this is the bees knees! Well done Adnams. Just one thing though, when will it be available in mini kegs or casks please?
What a treat..! Tried GFAF for the first time last nigh in my local 'Spoons'....I've sampled many AF lagers, beers and wines and this ale is by far the best I have tasted...absolutely delicious with citrus notes and depth of flavour - you almost wouldn't guess that it's AF...excited by this discovery!
This is the best "alcohol free" beer bar none. I've been searching for this for years and found it the month after it was released. It should be made law that all pubs have to serve a range of the very best (not rubbish) low alcohol beers, in the way they already must provide free tap water to customers.
I can't drink much alcohol because of medication. Sole Star and now Ghost Ship are superb. Most pubs around me offer Beck's Blue, oh dear!
A Live Saver...I decided to quit booze on 28th June 2018. One of the few disappointing things about giving up is that for many years, I really enjoyed drinking Adnams with my grandfather in the Sole Bay or the back bar in the Crown. You could say I was brought up on Adnams ales. I was around when Broadside was launched in 1972! So to find that GSAF was launched in the very same month as my decision to quit was really spooky. I now order it in bulk. It leaves Becks Blue and the others standing. As someone said, apart from the lovely afterglow with the alcoholic version, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Thank you so much Adnams. I really look forward to the bottle of Ghost Ship in the evenings. You could say I'm addicted to that now, but what the heck!
With an alcohol intolerance I have been craving a good beer for a long time. After a year of terrible alcohol free lagers, I nearly gave up until I discovered alcohol free ghost ship. Thank you Adnams....my saviour. Absolutely brilliant. Cheers, David
I just can't believe it....my favourite tipple. Brilliant! Chris, Norfolk.
Been looking forward to trying this for some time. Excellent work by Fergus in achieving a balanced taste without the alcohol. If you tasted this blind you would NOT know it was a low alc beer. I will happily drink this all night. Genius.
The best! The best tasting AF beer I've ever had. Virtually undetectable from the real thing, which is great news if, like me, you hate gassy lager-style AF drinks, sugary soft drinks and boring water. Or at least it would be if it was widely available! I was offered it by my local Wetherspoons as a substitute for the Erdinger AF but the following week was told they no longer stock it!
A game changer...This is pure genius. It tastes exactly like the real Ghost Ship lacking only the subtle warm afterglow you get as alcohol washes past your tonsils. Ghost Ship Alcohol Free is now my soft drink of choice when stuck with driving home from a pub. This is great news as I don't like sugary drinks and mineral water gets boring. I honestly wonder if stocking this product could provide a lifeline for struggling rural pubs. I will happily drink 2 or 3 of these which means that driving out to my "local" nearly 3 miles away (it does stock GSAF) is now a realistic prospect.
Sorcery! Can't emphasise enough how good this beer is. I had to check after my first bottle that I hadn't picked the wrong one off the shelf by mistake. Like many others here I'm on a forcibly reduced alcohol intake. This beer tops the list of all those I have tried, you really don't know it's low alcohol. Great served slightly chilled!
Finally a decent alcohol free ale...This ale is fantastic. It really does taste good, a proper pint. Buying on-line was so simple and the beers were delivered quickly. I will keep stocked up with this one 😄
Ghost Ship 0.5% - very good cold. Had to try this as Adnams had temporarily run out of my regular Sole Star and it was a different but still very pleasant experience. It's a very well made negligible-alcohol beer. This one is definitely better served cold rather than cool (it gets a bit soapy to my taste if it is not cold enough). When cold, however, it is a citrus (Citra) hoppy delight and I'm delighted to have another very low ABV beer available which actually tastes like beer. Now, if Adnams can work the same magic for Broadside...
Fantastic Beer...I have recently stopped drinking alcohol so on a night out with some friends, I tried a couple of alcohol free beers at the pubs we visited. In the last pub I was offered Ghost Ship Alcohol Free. When it arrived in a 500ml bottle, that instantly cheered me up. The thought of being able to stand with my mates holding a pint of beer made me feel right at home. Then when I read the label & saw that it was a pale ale brewed with Citra hops, my favourite combination, I started to get my hopes up. This beer didn't disappoint in any way. Fantastic flavour & I'm already looking forward to my next alcohol free night out.
Brill...If it didnt say 0.5% on the can I would have thought this to be a full flvoured traditional beer. Ab fab! Highly recommended.
A True Beer...Around 18 months ago I stopped alcohol and caffeine in a lifestyle change. Up to that point I had always drunk and thoroughly enjoyed the taste of real ales. Ghost ship was always right up there as one of my favourites. Probably the only thing I miss since giving up alcohol was the taste of real ales and having tried a range of non-alcoholic options I’ve never found anything that tastes remotely like the real thing. That has now changed. The taste of the alcohol free Ghost Ship is as good as any real ale I have ever tried. It pours just like an ale, with a good head that lasts and has the full flavour and consistency of a quality beer. This is not like anything else I have tried. Absolutely first class. I am not alone in looking for non-alcoholic options and I am sure this will prove to be a real winner.
About as good as it gets...My doctor served a prohibition order on me which is enforced by my wife (with whom only a mad man would argue) as I have an arrhythmic heart disorder. I have tried so many non-alcoholic beers I have lost count. Admans have finally entered the market with Ghost Ship and is about as good as it gets. Ghost Ship No Alcohol is now my go to pint. I love Adnams original Ghost Ship and this is a worthy substitute. I am so pleased Adnams finally entered the no alcohol fray.
Best Alcohol Free Beer I've Had! Since finding out I was expecting my first child I have been going through the range of alcohol free beers failing to find anything remotely good until today! At Newmarket Racecourse on a gorgeous sunny day I tried Ghost Ship alcohol free from the Adnams bar and LOVED it! Tastes just like the real thing and I hope more places start to stock it soon! Need to get my case on order ASAP! Thanks Adnams brilliant work!
Beer wizards! What kind of magic is this? This is the first alcohol free beer I've tried that truly tastes like a real beer. I was skeptical before trying, expecting the usual thin taste that disappears quickly from the palate like most non / low alcohol beers, but this tastes exactly like Ghost Ship! For a bitter drinker who gave up in January this is a revelation. Excellent job!
