Red Phantom is the third beer to be created for our Ghost Ship 4.5% 10th birthday collaboration series. Brewed with our friends from Magic Rock Brewing Co., this Rye Session I.P.A marries a selection of the cheek-puckering hops from Cannonball, their West Coast I.P.A, with Ghost Ship’s spicy rye grains. A scarily good combination; guaranteed to blow you out of the water.
Orange, and resinous pine flavours and aromas are balanced with sweet toffee notes from the malt, making it refreshing and moreish. The Rye sails in at the end for with spicy hit. With tones of red and amber, like a Southwold sunset, Red Phantom will surprise you; then eerily linger, haunting your tastebuds.
It is suitable for vegans and goes well with Harissa Pork or Roasted Squash Casserole. Available for a limited time only. Contains barley, rye, gluten.
To celebrate Ghost Ship’s 10th birthday this year, we teamed up with brewers we respected and admired, first Camden Town Brewery, then Beavertown Brewery, and finally Magic Rock Brewing Co. We created a series of delicious beers, each taking inspiration from the original Ghost Ship 4.5% in some way. We might have chosen a certain ingredient, style, or approach but all were unmistakably Ghost Ship 4.5%.
Adnams Head Brewer, Fergus first met Rich from Magic Rock in the US, while judging at the American Beer Festival. Over a few beers, they decided it would be an excellent idea to brew a beer together and made The Herbalist, one of Fergus’ favourite collaboration brews. This was the driver behind getting them back to brew for Ghost Ship’s anniversary.
Magic Rock’s Cannonball is also coming up for 10 years old (in 2021). Fergus loves the Simcoe hops in that beer, and it was that element they decided to pull out and combine with the Rye in Ghost Ship.
This beer is probably one of the best beers I’ve tasted from a Adnams collaboration. It’s smooth tasting and very palatable beer.
Really good beer, nice toffee notes and dangerously drinkable. I think this may be the best collab beer of the year, it's neck and neck between this one and Camden.
Sorry, I was looking forward to this beer but after the first taste I could'nt taste a thing. Thought it must be me so I asked my wife to taste. She said "it does'nt taste of anything" oops!
