A rich, smooth, easy-drinking Stout, named after the characterful, black-tarred fishing huts that line Southwold's harbour. Brimming with coffee and chocolate flavours, hints of liquorice and dark fruits.
Brewed with Pale Ale, Brown, Double Roasted Crystal and Chocolate malts, alongside Roasted Barley as well as oats, for a rich, broad malt character. Finished with Pilgrim and other British hops for a subtle bitterness.
Blackshore Stout is well suited to a host of occasions or foods. Delicious with oysters, crab or battered halloumi fries. The mild bitterness of Blackshore counters the lemon juice, acidity and saltiness superbly. It also works deliciously well with dark chocolate pudding for dessert.
As dark as the title suggests, Blackshore is a smooth, easy-drinking stout, named after the black-tarred fishing huts that line Southwold's harbour. Individual, characterful, and made of sturdy stuff.
Adnams Head Brewer, Fergus Fitzgerald said: “I think of stout as being an essential part of any beer range. Our interpretation has all the elements of a good dry stout It is brewed with a hefty mash bill for a rich, broad malt character. We’ve added Pale Ale, Brown, Double Roasted Crystal and Chocolate malts, alongside Roasted Barley as well as oats. This adds a real depth that the brewing team are particularly proud of.
Double Roasted Crystal adds nutty sweetness and a raisin character, that makes this broader than your average stout. It is then hopped with Pilgrim and other British hops for a delicate bitterness and a slight earthy note, which works well with the dark malts. The oats contribute a smoothness and this, coupled with a light hop character, make it very easy drinking and exceptionally moreish.
