Ghost Ship is a ghostly pale ale which takes its inspiration from Adnams 600-year-old haunted pub, The Bell. Brewed with a selection of malts - Pale Ale, Rye Crystal and Cara. We use Citra, and a blend of other American hop varieties to create some great citrus flavours. Bronze Medal Winner at The International Brewing Awards, 2013.
Ghost Ship was launched in 2010, originally as a seasonal Halloween beer. The final concept for Ghost Ship would be for a beer light in colour but with a little more sweetness and body from the addition of some caramalt and some rye to our pale ale malt. The Citra hops were complemented by a few other varieties, including Columbus and Centennial, but all the dry hops were Citra.

Many a beer has been created but none like Ghostship. This beer is so good by draught, so good in bottles, so good in cans , and if you’re designated driver - so good by 0.5%
Adnams Ghostship is the drink of The Gods, so good that when I pass I will be cremated, placed into a bottle of Ghostship of hussed off Southwold Pier.
I’m an avid Ghostship lover, there is nothing more refreshing and tasty
Amazing taste very refreshing well worth the money I would recommend it even the non alcoholic version if I could find it on draught in saffron walden I would be haunting the pub
Adnams are an outstanding brewery but for some reason they've chosen to change the recipe of ghost ship, it's been one of my favourite beers for years but now it's undrinkable, i just don't understand why they would try to fix something that isn't broken a real shame as their other beers are still great.
Yes it is citrusy, but I absolutely LOVE this beer.
A great beer.
A once great beer which is now, sadly, dominated by the citrus. Now tastes like a combination of beer, grapefruit juice and lemon. Try the Blackshore stout - one of the few genuinely great beers Adnams are still brewing.
I remember enjoyed my First Pint of 'Ghost Ship' many years ago in a Pub called The Coal Hole, The Strand, London (Great Pub). Some years ago it then appeared on the shelf at our Local Tesco Store ... "Shiver me Timbers" and have been hooked since. Of course a Pint of Draught 'Ghost Ship' has is always enjoyed, but the Flavour is as Good from a Bottle. Happy 10th Birthday and I hope you have many more Ghostly Birthdays.
I found this ale whilst on holiday in wells by the sea and realy enjoyed it.
I was pleasently supprised to find my local supermarket stocked it and Ghost Ship has become my goto bottled beer since.
Ghost Ship is my all time favourite beer and I wish we lived in an area to find it on draught more often. But although I'm not usually a lover of bottle or canned beer, Ghost Ship is delicious in both. As we have not been able to visit a pub since early March this has been a real saviour. We love the 4.5 and for a "detox day" turn to the 0.5. It's was perfect chilled on a summer day after toiling in the garden. And now we look forward to a few bottles to get us through a long locked down winter.
Sadly Ghost Ship has gone to the dogs. The clever balance of previous years just isn't there.
For a long time Ghost Ship has been a favourite tipple at home, but if late there is no life in it and every other bottle is flat.
Cracking Ale not to strong and nice sharp but sweet to taste I buy this stuff by the case I’ve tried lots of pale ales nothing is as good as Ghost Ship
I absolutely love this ale. The flavours ooze through with just the right amount of citrus not to be overpowering. It is a very drinkable beer with a decent punch that uou would expect from the 4.5 percent. Is really good from the bottle at room temperature and if you can find a pub which keeps it well - gorgeous
And the masters of Southwold brewed, as always, their good ale. And stuff the citra hop! And it turned out the guys have a nice and drink and tasty and fragrant and most importantly balanced BEER! For the hops from America did not drown out anything. Hop just added a nice touch
This has to be my favourite bottled beer. Nothing matches it for refreshment and clean taste.
Really nice beer and really love the original name and ghost ship picture. I buy it all the time!
My favourite beer. Whether it's a pint with the BBQ or celebrating a win for The Canaries, this is the beer for me.
Simply the best. My favourite drink nicely chilled.
Fantastic beer in bottle or in keg have tried both ,would recommend to any Adnams drinker.
What a cracker...Have tried bottle and keg ,this is a fantastic brew would highly recommend ,have just got another case from Adnams shop
This is a lovely beer, just had a couple for lunch, easy drinking but flavourful. Recommended.
Southwold Bitter is a beautiful copper-coloured beer, late hopped with Fuggles for a distinctive, lingering hoppiness.
A dark ruby beer to really write home about. This beer has been a firm favourite of the Adnams community for a long long time.
Broadside bottle ABV is 6.3%, where as the mini-cask is 4.7%.
