We've achieved a tasty 0.5% abv by brewing our beer using malts that are relatively low in starch, by using less yeast and by fermenting at a cool temperature. A delicious, light amber ale with gentle floral/citrus aromas and caramel notes with good bitterness.
Perfect with a pulled pork bap or a vegetarian pizza.
Sole Star is named after the brightest star in the sky (the sun!) which rises first over the East Coast and the Adnams Sole Bay Brewery each morning.

I don't know why this beer is getting negative reviews, didn't get the chance to try 0.9%, but I think 0.5% tastes fine, I agree with some negative feedback, it is a little thin (watery), but that's across the board with zero/low alcohol beers. My only criticism would be there's a bit to much C02 on bottling, I like it at room temp left open for a while to loose gas, and it's not as thin tasting, but reminds me of a honey ale.
Agree with other comment about the change from 0.9% to 0.5% alcohol- it seems to have lost its taste and seems watery now. Bought 8 bottle pack a while ago but there are other much better tasting 0.5% beers available ☹️
Why has this low alcohol beer been reduced in strength from 0.09% to 0.05% in doing so spoling what was before a very pleasant beer to drink, indeed the best low alcohol beer I have tasted. When it was the "stronger" variant it had body and a very nice after taste, now it is "watery" and has virtually no taste at all! Once I have drunk my current amount purchased I will be buying no more! A shame and why can't things be left alone?
This is an absolutely exceptional low alcohol beer.
I've tried pretty much every low alcohol beer out there and the only one that compares to this is Ghost Ship.
Tried a variety of low alcohol beers, this is one of the best and a personal favourite, some good lagers around but hard to find a proper beer. I have poured one from a different brewery down the sink after a couple of sips but this is highly recommended.
Top of ten low alcohol beers from nine producers, sampled in January 2019. You would actually want to choose this beer even if it wasn't low alcohol...
Sorry Adnams, but this is not good, well not good for my taste anyway. It's trying to be something it isn't, like tasty low strength ale.
I've made a few orders of this now - love it! It has all the full flavour of a lovely 4%-ish amber ale at a remarkable 0.9% - you really couldn't tell. If you just want a low alcohol beer without sacrificing taste then I haven't found anything that's as good as this. Great stuff.
Six bottle mixed case of low alcohol wines
8 bottles of the delicious 0.5%
The little bottle that’s big on taste
A very fine Médoc with excellent ageing potential
8 Bottles of deliciously light amber ale
6 bottles of lively, fresh and floral touches
Six bottles of fresh, crisp, vibrant fizz
Looks good, does good!
The World's Best!
