NAVIGATING OUR WAY

Thank you

Your support has been overwhelming in many ways whether it be through ordering from our website, visiting our shops, staying in our hotels, eating and drinking in our pubs – it has been a joy to help you with your special occasions and memories, in this most strange of years. Over the last few months, we have had marriage proposals on Brewery tours, special birthdays at The Swan, anniversary lunches, meaningful conversations on benches outside our pubs, celebratory picnics on the beach and much more. Every time you choose us to support you it makes a difference to us, it helps us support our teams, their families, our suppliers and many more. We do not and will not ever take your custom for granted. Thanks again.

Our focus

From the outset of this pandemic, we have always looked to our values, what we can control and being adaptive to the environment in which we operate. We always start whatever we do with the question what is the right thing to do? This latest lockdown will save lives, it will change the way we do business and we, like others, will face difficult decisions. However, we have been planning for such eventualities and we will continue to do all we can to support one another. Our guiding principles are as they were back in March. Protect the health of each other, our customers and our communities, ensure we navigate the business healthily through lockdown, save our pubs and importantly save jobs.

Our stores remain open and Adnams.co.uk

I have been buoyed by the number of letters and emails I have had saying that our stores teams have created places that feel safe and welcoming - many of our stores will continue to remain open, of course, this will be constantly reviewed. The plan so far is that they will continue to serve and support their communities as always. Our online shop has seen tremendous growth, which we are proud of and we have been working incredibly hard with our delivery partners to ensure that they do their best to help us keep our promises. We have increased stock levels, reviewed our systems and introduced a dedicated team so we hope our service meets your needs.

Much to be proud of

In the midst of everything we have launched our new premium English lager, Kobold which is vegan, made from all English ingredients and we are working in partnership with this specific product with the Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE), a charity dedicated to restoring our oceans to health. Sustainability is always at the heart of what we do. To celebrate Ghost Ship’s 10th anniversary, we launched our third collaboration, with Beavertown the aptly named, Strange Seas! We have been named as one on the Top 50 Independent Wine Merchants in the UK by Harpers, our Adnams Finest Port won the Good Housekeeping Award, our Single Malt Whisky has been named in the 2020 Great British Food and Drinks Awards and you will hopefully have seen many of our products featured and reviewed in the press, often with wonderful reviews. We were also thrilled to have been nominated as a Chamber of Commerce Business Hero for what we have done to support our communities during this difficult time – playing an active part in our community is part of who we are and has been for the last 149 years.

Ebb and flow

The upcoming lockdown from Thursday will bring about many challenges for many people, we have and will continue to be in close contact with the Government and relevant bodies to understand and implement the new regulations. We will be using our digital channels to update you with the latest changes once we have them and we will continue to be completely transparent in everything we do. We have once again cancelled rents for our pub tenants as we do all that we can to help them. Together, we did this before and the more we all follow the rules the sooner we will be out the other side of this. Let’s all support one another, stay positive and stay safe. On behalf of the whole Adnams team, we hope to see you again soon.

With, best wishes,

Andy
