Adnams Malbec, 'El Dominio', Argentina

The renowned wine maker Susan Balbao here delivers a soft and juicy, rather elegant malbec with damson and black cherry fruit, finishing lightly toasty, mocha note. Definitely one for grilled meats, or chocolatey treats.

The Independent

There’s a remarkable woman behind this Argentine malbec. Susana Balbo originally wanted to be a nuclear physicist before joining the family winemaking business. Science’s loss was winemaking’s gain, and she became the first woman in Argentina to gain a degree in oenology. She has become one of the country’s foremost wine experts. 

This malbec was made from grapes from her high-altitude vineyards in the Luján de Cuyo district of Mendoza. Lush, rich and juicy, it’s chock full of damson and forest fruit flavours and is a splendid tribute to a pioneering wine-maker.
