The widely used term, ‘New World’ refers to wines produced outside traditional European and Middle Eastern winegrowing countries. With a focus on wines from Australia, Argentina, Chile, Canada, New Zealand, United States (primarily California) and South Africa. New World wines have gained huge popularity and following for their typically punchy, reliable characterful and bold styles. We have worked hard to strike a balance between those selected for their bold fruit and those more refined and understated.
This case includes:
1 x The Den Sauvignon Blanc
1 x Adnams Central Otago Pinot Noir, New Zealand
1 x Sole Bay Malbec, San Juan, Argentina
1 x Adnams Shiraz, South Eastern Australia
1 x Chardonnay, Camuflaje, Central Valley, Chile
1 x Malbec Rosé Bubbles Brut, Bodegas Gouguenheim, Mendoza
The Den Sauvignon Blanc
South Africa is home to a vast expanse of soil type and climates and, as a result, wine production and styles boast great variety. Perhaps the “oldest” of the new world, the more recent European influence on wine production has boosted South Africa’s reputation. Most wine producing regions in South Africa are located near to coastal influences of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, which moderates the hot and dry climate.
Produced by Painted Wolf Wines, this Sauvignon Blanc is produced from two vineyards: the cool, coastal region of Darling and the hot and dry area of Swartland.
Jeremy and Emma Borg founded Painted Wolf Wines to create wines from a small number of growers in some of South Africa's prime sites. A bright zippy wine with typical Sauvignon Blanc aromas of gooseberry, fresh cut grass and figs, this Sauvignon Blanc has a round textured mouth feel, great balance and fresh supple acidity.
A great wine to enjoy with friends, either as an aperitif or with grilled chicken and a light salad. And what’s more; 5% of profits from the sale of this wine are donated to the charity Tusk, which supports the conservation of the endangered African Wild Dog.
Suitable for vegans.
Adnams Central Otago Pinot Noir, New Zealand
Climate and winemaking practices mean New Zealand is home to reliably consistent wines. Adnams seeks to find the finest examples from the world's most renowned wine producing regions. Wines that have character, complexity and truly express how the magic mix of vine, soil, weather and man can come together to create something special.
We have worked with our long-term friends at the renowned Forrest Estate Wines to produce this polished and sophisticated wine. Doctors John and Brigid Forrest rely on their generations of farming in Marlborough to expertly craft some of our favourite wines. This Pinot Noir is no exception; a well-favoured Bannockburn Pinot Noir, with Burgundian notes, elegant, earthy, truffle aromas with modern balanced spicy aromas from subtle use of oak.
Dried strawberries with a mineral edge on the palate complement a soft fleshy texture and make it a perfect partner to a savoury duck dish.
Sole Bay Malbec, San Juan, Argentina
Several varieties are grown across Argentinian vineyards, most of which are influenced by European settlers. With such a variety in climate, from semi-arid desert-like to higher-altitude cooler regions – Argentina offers a vast array of consistently reliable wine.
The San Juan region actually has a long history of producing sherry-style wines but is today known primarily for its premium red varietals. Its location in the north-western corner of Argentina, 650m above sea level, contributes to the intense flavour which is clearly demonstrated in this Malbec. Well-rounded with rich aromas of juicy bramble fruits with the structure and concentration you would expect from bold Argentine Malbec. Made under the watchful eye of winemaker Jorge Garcia at Tierra del Huarpe. Clichéd, but perfectly paired with a steak; or a portobello mushroom risotto.
Suitable for vegans
Chardonnay, Camuflaje, Central Valley, Chile
The geography of Chile is dominated by the Andes to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west and grape varieties call on early French and Spanish settlers. This tropical Chardonnay has aromas of pear, pineapple and acacia flowers. Fresh, with medium body and a long, exotic finish.
Produced in the Central Valley, with gentle cooling breezes from the Pacific Ocean which helps to moderate the long, hot summer days by Darwin Vineyards. Our partners here work with the upmost respect for the environment in all they do, including donating to the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust from each bottle of wine sold. Wonderful paired with grilled chicken and creamy potato salad at your late-summer BBQ.
Suitable for vegetarians
Malbec Rosé Bubbles Brut, Bodegas Gouguenheim, Mendoza
We are back to Argentina for this wonderful 100% Malbec sparkler. Characterful and full of delicate red fruit aromas of cherries and berries, whilst perfectly balanced with a gentle fizz.

With a keen commitment to quality and preservation of the environment, Patricio’s wines are truly special. Perfect for a celebratory aperitif or with salmon dishes.
