Electric car charge point at The Swan Hotel

By Sarah Groves, also posted in News on

A Nissan Leaf electric car at The Swan Hotel in Southwold where there's now a free electric car charge pointLet your car re-charge for free! We’ve installed an electric-car charging point at The Swan Hotel – the first electric-car charge point in Southwold. While you are re-charging on the Suffolk coast, your car can too (after all, it deserves it!). Free for guests and visitors, to re-charge your car please pop in and see the reception team at The Swan to get the Zero Carbon World (ZCW) Type 2, 7kW, 32 amp charge point turned on. Don’t worry, you can connect to a three-pin domestic socket too if you have forgotten your cable. For the Nissan Leaf, it would take around 4 hours to charge 100% using the 32amp socket and 12 hours to charge with a three-pin domestic socket. THe Nissan Leaf at the Adnams Distribution CentreDavid Kindred from Hammond Nissan in Halesworth kindly loaned us a shiny new Nissan Leaf for an hour or two so that we could test-drive an electric car and discover how easy it is to drive and re-charge. Using no hydrocarbons, it is produces zero emissions and runs almost silently (a noise has been added at lower speeds so that pedestrians stay safer by being able to hear the car).

It’s an exciting new technology, so over the next few months we’ll be adding more charge points where we can with help from the manufacturer Viridian EV.
