Our lager's got larger!

By Sarah Groves, also posted in News on

Adnams Dry Hopped Lager mini kegBrilliant news! Adnams’ Gold medal-winning* Dry Hopped Lager is now available in 5L mini kegs (£31.98 for a twin-pack online, or £15.99 each in store*)

Why is this exciting?

1)    This is a ‘bright’ keg beer – unlike a mini cask there’s no need to leave it to settle, you can pour it straight away. 2)    It has a long shelf-life of around 9 months, so you can store it away for when you need it! (Good luck with that, it’s like knowing there’s a packet of biscuits in the cupboard…) 3)    You can lay it down in the fridge, or move it around to where the party’s happening; it doesn’t need to be kept in one place. Brewed with Pilsner malt, our Lager is dry hopped with Australian Galaxy hops to add big, fruity hop flavours. It's then 'lagered' (cold conditioned) to produce a full, well-rounded flavour. This golden lager is light, crisp and refreshing with subtle malty flavours and a hoppy aroma of tropical fruits, citrus and passionfruit.

What’s a kegged beer?

Kegged beers are racked bright – in other words, there are no remnants of hops of yeast left in the keg that would otherwise need to settle out. This means that you can pop your Dry Hopped Lager mini keg in the fridge and use it straight away. It also retains its fizziness to add to the refreshing flavours. *Gold: International Beer Challenge 2014 and Gold: Champion Pale & Golden Lagers, SIBA National Keg Beer Competition 2015.

How to look after and use your mini keg

Your keg is best stored in a cool, dry place, ideally at a temperature between 4 and 14 degrees centigrade. You can keep your keg in the fridge until you're ready to enjoy it. 1. Vent your keg by lifting the top tab and turning it to the left. This will reduce the pressure in the keg (you may hear some gas escape). 2. Pull out the red tap from the base. 3. To pour a tasty glassful, turn the tap to the left. To close the tap, turn it to the right. Close the top vent while the keg is not in use to keep the gas inside. Once opened, your mini keg is best used within 4 days.
